Get URL from Symbian browser

One of the questions many Symbian users might have had:
How to get the URL of the currently visited website from a Symbian browser?
For me this question arose when I programmed Shorten, an application to create short URL's with the bit.ly URL shortening service on Symbian S60 smartsphones.
Below you can find step by step instructions on how to copy the URL of the currently visited website to the clipboard from some widely used Symbian browsers.

Opera Mini 5.1 is a Java MIDP Midlet and thus cannot access the operating system clipboard directly. Depending on the set fullscreen edit mode, different numbers of steps are needed to copy the currently visited URL to the operating system clipboard.
Fullscreen edit mode can be set in Opera Mini via:
Settings -> Advanced -> Fullscreen edit: On/Off
